Wichita Art Museum

The Downing Family Foundation has enormously impacted the Wichita Art Museum in recent years, contributing to major renovations and an expansion in the early part of the century. Because of the foundation’s generosity, the museum was able to design and create inviting landscaping that has welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors and is a feature that is sure to last for years to come.

Due to the Downing family’s kindness, the Wichita Art Museum was able to acquire an exceptional work of art, Pear Pickers by Joseph De Camp. This important impressionist painting was donated in part by the Downing family in 2010 and has truly enhanced the museum’s permanent collection.

A touring exhibition, American Moderns,1910-1960: From O’Keeffe to Rockwell will be available thanks to the support of The Downing Family Foundation. On display in 2014, this exhibition is an in-depth presentation of American modernist works on paper and a collection that is recognized as one of the nation's finest. We greatly look forward to hosting this exhibition, which would not be possible without the generosity of the Downings.

The Wichita Art Museum is thankful to have the support of The Downing Family Foundation. Without donors like the Downing family, the Museum would not be the thriving cultural center that it is today.
